Brian,

Just a short note to compliment you on today's newsletter on Being Right vs. Being Happier. Very important message and well written!

I have saved it to use with psychotherapy clients. My brothers and I have suffered from this dis-ease for years, and I have firsthand knowledge of how beneficial the advice to let go being right can be--been with the same woman for 31 years, haven't I?!

Thanks again!

I don't know if you will get this, but taking the chance that you will, I would like to share a few words. As years go by, fewer and fewer things bring me to tears, but I found myself very touched by your "Short Video for Mothers and Those Who Appreciate Them." Thank you for creating something so beautiful - it touched the center of my heart and brought me to tears. My mom is no longer with us, but your video made me want to be the kind of mom that would raise a son who would be inspired to express himself with the spirit which you have. Thank you for making a difference!

Just a short note to thank you for your wonderful book, for Intense Experiences and for being the wonderful person that you are. I can feel it.... weird I know, I believe only a wonderful person could have written such wise words of wisdom... I thank you so much for that.

On a personal side, I have been married (and separated) to the only wonderful man I have ever been with and love so much.. still do I supposed, after all, 28 years is a long time and I have at some stage thought we will be together till the end of time. My husband has found someone else, more than half his age younger, I hold no grudge, and we are best of friends.

I truly believe it's not what happened to me but how I respond that matters most. Books such as yours are a never ending inspiration to someone like me, and it more than enriches our lives and make us realize life is a truly precious gift and must be treated as such. Thanks once again, have an awesome day.

With much love,
Cora :-)

"Hi Brian,

I'm a HUGE fan ...

True story triggered by your X on Hand Article...

I was a new high school freshman. One day, as we went through the cafeteria line, a friend who had two older sisters commented about the cashier we were approaching, sliding our trays along the rails, "No one has ever seen her smile."

I chirped, "I can make her smile!" My friend encouraged me to try. I greeted her with a smile, looked into her eyes, and was kind and affirming to her. She had a shocked look in her eyes, but she smiled a little smile back.

The next day, I smiled at her, she smiled back, the friend behind me smiled at her, she smiled back, the freshman behind me smiled ... and I heard an upper classman say, "Look! She's SMILING!" You can imagine the rest of the story. More kids smiled. She smiled more. Etc.

I made a point of going through her line the last day of my senior year. She put her hand on my arm and said, "I want to THANK you for what you did for me!" For by then, four years later, she smiled at every student and most smiled right back. That year's freshman had no idea that Mrs. ----- had been known as The Woman Who Never Smiles. (P.S. I'm going to my 40th. HS reunion next week!!! I'm 58 years old!!)"

When I saw your videoclip about Love I was mesmerized, captured, hooked ... You have the gift to touch people on so many levels. The connection through your eyes, the words that support the wonderful words from your heart. It all blends into this whole masterpiece. This is truly a holistic experience, an authentic expression of who you are ... You are most certainly not 'others' - you are truly unique - and you give people what you are about: an "Intense Experience!"

" ... I was feeling overwhelmed by all the newsletters, etc. that I had been receiving (and not getting to read) that I began unsubscribing - helter/skelter - and you were one of the helter/skelters. I'm sorry and apologize - I've since been reading what you sent and am very impressed and pleased - finding everything uplifting, truthful, honest and enjoyable. How can I get back on your list?

Blessings,
Norma"

"Thank you for sharing about your son's graduation. My son also graduates from high school this year... and I have spent many weeks deliberating over the most thoughtful book to give him. I was considering Johnathon Livingston Seagull.... but now am going to go with The Tao of Pooh.

Thank you again for your inspiration, and I thoroughly enjoy receiving your emails.

Best regards,
Kathryn"

"I have just spent a few minutes reading the pages here on your site. I found them wonderful and inspiring.

I totally agree with you when you say that happiness is a choice. There are many things that have happened to me in my life which I could sit back and wallow in. But I made a choice a couple of years back which has made such a difference in my life.

That choice was to be happy no matter what. Like you say it doesn't work every minute of every hour of every day but once you are conscious of how you are feeling and why you are feeling the way you are feeling you then have the choice. Nobody has control over how you feel only you. Once you empower yourself with with this knowledge you can do whatever your heart desires.

Taking responsibility for who and what I am, forgiving others because they are unaware, as yet, of what truly matters in life has made my life so much different. Your work is fantastic it's clear and easy to understand. Your 9 secrets for instance really impressed me, although when you read them you realise these are not secrets they are simply common sense statements. But they really ring through on a level that everyone who reads them should be easily able to relate to them.

I would just like to thank you reading your work has brightened up my morning, keep it up.

With Thanks,
Marie." (from Ireland)

"Thanks for your newsletter, it's a joy and inspiration to read.

Brian, thank you for your inspiration this morning.

Reading your latest article "The Last & Most Important Frontier of Holistic Living" was an excellent read. Few online articles keep my attention the way yours did. What you wrote rang true.

I was further inspired in reading your bio on the site. Your honest disclosure will be helpful for others to know.

A friend of mine reminded me last night that the harder life is, the better, because that is when intense growth occurs. That's all we're here to do, to grow, to know ourselves.

With kind regards,
Susan" (from Canada)

Thank You Brian! Just read "Let it Rain" and realized I have squelched many honest feelings inside, to attempt to measure up to someone else's standards. How dishonest is that?? If I said what I thought it may not be "pretty" or "good enough". Or I may offend or hurt someone, while I allow myself to feel hurt. At least now what I express will be real.

Gratefully,
Vernelle Staton
